A 39-year-old Fijian farm worker lost his life in a tragic road accident in Perth, Western Australia on Sunday evening. Sikeli Nawaqa was driving a Hyundai Getz when the vehicle veered off Dandaragan Road and collided with a tree shortly after 7 pm.
Nawaqa sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three other male passengers were seriously injured and were airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
His family described Nawaqa as “kind and hard-working,” while his employer, Agri Fresh, expressed that his “devastating loss has sent shockwaves through our entire organisation.” They remembered him as “a kind, warm-hearted, gentle, passionate and committed” member of their team, emphasizing that he will be dearly missed.
One of the injured passengers, a 27-year-old man, is in critical condition and fighting for his life in the intensive care unit. Two other passengers, aged 30 and 38, suffered serious injuries but are currently in stable condition in the state’s trauma unit.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident and are seeking any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. Nawaqa is survived by his wife and four children.
