Police are investigating the death of 60-year-old chef Lance Seeto, known for his work at Kanu Gastropub, who was found unresponsive with apparent head injuries in his bathroom on Clarke St, Suva, on Tuesday.
A staff member from Kanu Gastropub went to check on him at 9:21 am after he had been unreachable since Friday. Authorities remained at the scene throughout the afternoon to perform their investigations.
While waiting for post-mortem results to establish the cause of death, social media has been flooded with condolences following the shocking news. Div Damodar of the Div Damodar Group of Companies expressed his sorrow, remembering Seeto as a kind and joyful person who inspired many in Fiji.
The Facebook page for Fiji Chefs paid homage to Seeto, labeling him a legendary chef who dedicated himself to Fijian cuisine. They noted his significant contribution to mentoring and developing some of Fiji’s most successful chefs, elevating local gastronomy.
Furthermore, the German Embassy in Suva offered its condolences, remarking on Seeto’s vital role in enhancing their events with his outstanding catering, particularly noted during the visit of German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to Fiji in early May.
