Tragically, the body of a 10-year-old boy was found floating in the Navua River this morning. Authorities have identified the child as a local student who had been reported missing after he was swept away by a strong current while swimming with friends at the Raiwaqa River in Navua on December 28th.

The police have arrived at the scene, and an investigation is currently underway to uncover the details surrounding this heartbreaking incident.

In times of such great loss, it is essential to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the young boy. This incident also serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety, especially for children enjoying outdoor activities.

Though recovery stories can be difficult to process, there is hope that increased awareness and education about safety around water can prevent future tragedies. We can honor the memory of those we’ve lost by ensuring that others are educated and informed about the potential dangers of swimming in natural bodies of water.
