Tragedy Strikes as Young Fijian Drowns in Kansas Dam Incident

The tragic drowning of 21-year-old Kaiava Francis has left his family in Fiji heartbroken. Last Saturday, Francis reportedly drowned at the Detners dam in Kansas, USA, while swimming with friends. According to a report by Kake Television in Wichita, Kansas, he jumped into the water but was swept away by the strong current of the Neosho River.

Authorities recovered his body the same day and took it for identification. A close family member expressed their shock upon hearing the news, stating, “I didn’t know how to react.” Francis was the second oldest of four siblings and hailed from Wailevu, Labasa, with maternal connections to Waibasaga, Wainimala, Naitasiri.
