A 20-year-old man from Matanagata, Tavua, lost his life in a road accident on Kings Road in Naviyago, Lautoka, on Saturday morning. According to the Director of Traffic, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the deceased was one of three passengers in a vehicle operated by a 30-year-old driver. SSP Divuana indicated that the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it crashing into the railing of the Naviyago bridge and plunging into the river below. Both the victim and another passenger were rushed to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival. The current road death toll now stands at 41, a decrease from 63 at the same time last year.
