A tragic accident in Kulukulu, Sigatoka, resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman early in the morning. The incident took place around 2 a.m. when the driver, allegedly under heavy intoxication, failed to navigate a curve while driving towards Sigatoka Town. This led to a collision with an electric post.
The two deceased were pronounced dead at the scene, while two additional passengers—a male and a female—have been hospitalized and are receiving treatment.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, Director of Traffic and Transport Control (DTTC), expressed his sorrow regarding this being the second fatal accident in the area within just 24 hours. He urged all drivers to take responsibility for their actions and to consider the safety of their passengers and other road users.
Divuana assured the public that the Police and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will maintain a strong presence on the roads to promote safety and prevent further tragedies.
