A woman in her mid-20s was discovered deceased in a residence in Raiwaqa, Suva, early yesterday morning.
Police reports indicate that the victim sustained serious injuries allegedly inflicted by her partner, who subsequently fled the scene and was evading law enforcement throughout much of the day.
A police statement noted that the couple had engaged in a heated argument, during which the suspect used an object to injure the victim, leading to her death.
Investigation at the location on Albert Lee Place revealed that the victim was a tertiary student. Employees from the nearby Duavata Taxi company expressed their shock over the violent incident at the property.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, confirmed that authorities have questioned several individuals regarding the situation.
“Initial investigations are complete, and we have started to bring in people for questioning, I believe around three,” Mr. Waqa stated, though he did not disclose whether the suspect had been captured.
