Eight individuals were transported to Korovou Hospital after a serious accident involving a container trailer and a minibus. The collision occurred around midday near Lokuya Hill, close to Verata Junction along King’s Road. Both drivers, as well as six passengers from the minibus, required medical attention and were admitted to the hospital.
In light of this incident, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, who oversees traffic for the Fiji Police Force, has urged Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise caution on the roads. “This marks the second incident this week involving PSVs, and it is concerning that innocent passengers are becoming victims of such accidents,” remarked SSP Divuana.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
It is essential for all drivers, particularly those operating public transport, to remain vigilant to ensure the safety of their passengers and other road users. While incidents like these are alarming, they also serve as a crucial reminder of the importance of road safety. It is hoped that increased awareness and precaution can prevent future accidents and protect the lives of everyone on the road.
