Residents of the Nadi area are being informed of temporary traffic delays set to occur tomorrow and Saturday due to escort duties for United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin’s visit.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police SSP Kasiano Vusonilawe, there will not be any road closures; however, motorists are urged to yield to the escort team when they’re on the road.
On Friday, police will be stationed from Nadi International Airport to the Blackrock camp in Votualevu to facilitate smooth traffic control between 3 PM and 5 PM as the visiting delegation is escorted. Following this, the delegation is slated to travel to Denarau after 5 PM, with additional police support to manage traffic during this transfer.
On Saturday, beginning at 9 AM, individuals traveling from Denarau to Nadi International Airport are requested to cooperate with traffic officers who will be on hand to regulate and monitor traffic flow.
SSP Vusonilawe emphasized that traffic operations aim to minimize delays and encouraged the public to work together with authorities during this period for a smoother experience.
In light of the forthcoming event and the necessary security measures, this visit underscores the importance of international relations and cooperation, which can contribute to fostering a positive environment for diplomatic engagement. It’s a moment for local communities to witness global governance in action, and such visits can bring potential opportunities and discussions vital for local development.
