Members of the public in the Central and Western Divisions are being warned to anticipate traffic disruptions and delays as police will be performing traffic and escort duties during the State visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, from today until Wednesday.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu has confirmed that there will not be a complete closure of roads during this period. ACP Driu urges motorists to assist police officers by yielding space for the official motorcade when they hear escorting police vehicles.

The schedule for the visit is as follows:

Tuesday, August 6, 2024
9:00 AM – Traditional Ceremonies of Welcome – GPH
3:00 PM – Meeting with the Indian diaspora – GPH
4:00 PM – Wreath Laying ceremony at the National War Memorial Site
4:20 PM – The President of India will depart the National War Memorial to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School (MGM High School) to honor the statue of Mahatma Gandhi
6:00 PM – State House reception

Wednesday, August 7, 2024
9:00 AM – Visit to Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple, Nadi
