Residents in the Nadi area are being informed of expected traffic delays starting tomorrow and continuing through Saturday due to the visit of U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kasiano Vusonilawe stated that while there will not be any road closures, drivers should be prepared to yield to the escorting team.

On Friday, between 3 PM and 5 PM, police will be stationed along the route from Nadi International Airport to Votualevu and onwards to Blackrock camp, specifically to help manage traffic for the escorting duties. Following this, the delegation is anticipated to leave for Denarau after 5 PM, where similar traffic control will be implemented.

For Saturday, starting at 9 AM, the public is encouraged to cooperate with traffic officers who will oversee the flow of traffic from Denarau back to Nadi International Airport. SSP Vusonilawe emphasized the police’s commitment to minimizing delays and urged the public to work with authorities during this period.

As this high-profile visit unfolds, it presents an opportunity for increased international attention and cooperation. The local community can look forward to the positive outcomes that may arise from enhanced diplomatic relationships.

This traffic management operation is a reminder of the importance of public safety and order during significant events, showcasing the capacity of local authorities to respond effectively to increased activity in the area.
