Residents in the Nadi area should prepare for some temporary traffic delays starting tomorrow and continuing through Saturday due to the visit of United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Senior Superintendent of Police, SSP Kasiano Vusonilawe, announced that while there will be no road closures, drivers are urged to yield to the escorting team when approaching.

On Friday, police will be actively managing traffic from 3 PM to 5 PM to facilitate the delegation’s movements from Nadi International Airport to Votualevu and then to the Blackrock camp. Following this, the delegation is expected to continue to Denarau after 5 PM, prompting further traffic control measures along that route.

Saturday will see continued traffic management efforts from 9 AM, with officers stationed to oversee traffic between Denarau and Nadi International Airport. SSP Vusonilawe emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public to ensure smooth traffic flow during these designated times.

This visit is a significant event, reflecting the strengthening of international relations and cooperation. While the traffic disruptions may be inconvenient, they underline an important diplomatic engagement that can lead to positive outcomes for the region.

Overall, by working together and staying informed, residents and travelers can navigate these temporary delays effectively.
