Motorists in Nadi should prepare for temporary traffic delays on November 22 and 23, as the Fiji Police Force will be conducting escort duties for United States Secretary of Defense, Mr. Lloyd Austin. While no road closures are anticipated, drivers are encouraged to yield to police escorts accompanying the delegation.
On Friday, traffic management will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. along the route from Nadi Airport to Votualevu and the Blackrock Camp, to ensure a seamless escort. After 5:00 p.m., traffic control will extend to the Votualevu-to-Denarau route. Similar measures will be necessary on Saturday, starting at 9:00 a.m. as the delegation travels back from Denarau to Nadi International Airport.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe, Director of Operations for the Fiji Police Force, has reassured the public that efforts will be made to minimize any disruptions. He has requested the cooperation of motorists to help facilitate safe and efficient escort operations.
This visit underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Fiji and the United States, highlighting the importance of international cooperation. By working together, both nations can strengthen their collaborative efforts in various areas, from defense to economic development.
In summary, while traffic delays are expected during the high-profile visit, the efforts of local law enforcement and the understanding of motorists will contribute to a smooth experience for everyone involved.
