Residents of the Nadi area are being warned to expect temporary traffic delays beginning tomorrow and continuing through Saturday, coinciding with the visit of United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
Senior Superintendent of Police, SSP Kasiano Vusonilawe, announced that while there will be no complete road closures, motorists should be prepared to yield to the escorting team when they approach. On Friday between 3 PM and 5 PM, traffic officers will be stationed from Nadi International Airport to Votualevu and to the Blackrock camp to facilitate smooth traffic flow for the visiting delegation. Following this, the delegation is slated to leave for Denarau after 5 PM, where additional police officers will maintain traffic control.
On Saturday, starting at 9 AM, the public is asked to cooperate with traffic personnel who will be monitoring and directing traffic from Denarau back to the Nadi International Airport. SSP Vusonilawe encouraged a collaborative spirit from all drivers to minimize delays during these significant events.
This visit signifies strong diplomatic ties and the cooperation between nations, which can be seen as a positive development in international relations. It serves as an opportunity for local residents to engage with global leaders, fostering a sense of community and diplomacy.
In summary, while there will be some temporary traffic disruptions, the cooperation of local motorists will help facilitate the smoothly conducted visit of a key international figure. This is an opportunity for Nadi to showcase its hospitality and commitment to international affairs.
