Motorists in Nadi should prepare for temporary traffic delays on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, due to the visit of United States Secretary of Defense, Mr. Lloyd Austin. The Fiji Police Force will be facilitating escort duties during this time.
While there will be no road closures, drivers are encouraged to give priority to police escorts to ensure smooth transitions for the delegation. On Friday, police will manage traffic from Nadi Airport to Votualevu and then to the Blackrock Camp between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Following this, traffic control measures will be implemented along the Votualevu-to-Denarau route after 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, similar traffic management operations will commence at 9:00 a.m. as the delegation travels from Denarau to Nadi International Airport.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kasiano Vusonilawe, the Director of Operations for the Fiji Police Force, expressed commitment to minimizing delays and called for cooperation from motorists to ensure the escort process is safe and efficient.
This visit represents an opportunity for diplomatic engagement and cooperation between the United States and Fiji. While some inconvenience may occur, it highlights the importance of international relationships and security discussions. The community’s understanding and patience during these times are invaluable as they contribute to the success of this significant visit.
