Residents in the Nadi area are being informed about potential temporary traffic delays occurring tomorrow and Saturday due to the visit of United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Senior Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe announced that while there will be no road closures, motorists are encouraged to yield to the escorting team when approaching.
On Friday, traffic control measures will be in effect from 3 PM to 5 PM, with police officers deployed to manage traffic flow from Nadi International Airport, through Votualevu, to the Blackrock camp, facilitating the movement of the visiting delegation. After 5 PM, the delegation will head to Denarau, prompting similar traffic management actions on that route.
On Saturday, beginning at 9 AM, the public is asked to cooperate with traffic officers as they oversee traffic between Denarau and Nadi International Airport. SSP Vusonilawe emphasized that efforts will be made to minimize delays and requested the public’s understanding and cooperation during these brief interruptions.
This visit underscores the importance of international relations, and while traffic delays may be inconvenient, they are a sign of diplomatic engagement and collaboration. By working together, both the authorities and the public can ensure a smooth experience for everyone involved.
