Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has dismissed allegations circulating on social media regarding political interference in the appointment of Barbara Malimali as Commissioner of FICAC.
In comments made to FijiLive, Kamikamica described the social media claims as absurd and disrespectful to the Judicial Services Commission, which operates independently and is led by the Acting Chief Justice.
Kamikamica expressed regret that the individual making these claims is currently overseas, stating that if she were in Fiji, legal action would have already been taken against her.
He remarked, “She is ridiculous. I am saddened that you would believe her as a trustworthy source. It is a pity that she is hiding offshore or she would have been sued.”
