Tower Insurance has announced the recipients of its first Vunilagi Scholarship, a program aimed at nurturing future leaders in Fiji and the insurance industry. The three individuals awarded the scholarship are Aqela Buloudruadrua, Shayal Gosai, and Saula Baleinubu, chosen through a thorough selection process.
During a special ceremony at Tower’s new hub in Suva, Jajeena Bhan, co-head of Tower’s Suva Hub, commended the high quality of applicants. “Our aim is to identify inspiring students who will help create a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future for all Fijians,” Ms. Bhan remarked. “Aqela, Shayal, and Saula embody the potential we seek.”
The Vunilagi Scholarship was launched as part of Tower’s 150th-anniversary celebrations in Fiji. It will cover a full year of tuition fees for three final-year students at the University of the South Pacific (USP) and includes paid internships that could lead to permanent positions at Tower Insurance. This initiative not only addresses the educational aspirations of students but also aligns with the company’s goal of developing local talent to enhance its workforce.
Ms. Gosai, one of the successful applicants, expressed that receiving the scholarship has motivated her to make a positive impact in her community. Mr. Baleinubu noted that the scholarship would equip him with vital skills and networking opportunities necessary for his future career, while Ms. Buloudruadrua shared her gratitude, stating that the support would enable her to pursue her personal and professional ambitions.
Through the Vunilagi Scholarship, Tower Insurance aims to establish itself as an active participant in the local market, investing in the next generation of leaders and reinforcing its commitment to corporate social responsibility in Fiji.
