Tourism Fiji is actively working to expand its current markets while also venturing into new opportunities to enhance its inbound source markets. With two significant events approaching—a major gathering in Melbourne, Australia, for the Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings Event (AIME) and India’s prominent outbound travel market show, OTM—Tourism Fiji’s CEO, Brent Hill, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with industry partners to tap into these regions for growth.

In his recent address to industry stakeholders, Mr. Hill shared that the organization is energized by the packed schedule ahead and is eager to elevate Fiji’s profile within these expansive markets. He emphasized that the goal for 2024 is to surpass last year’s record-breaking achievements in tourism, noting that reservations are already showing promising signs, especially for the coming March.

Additionally, Mr. Hill highlighted impressive results on their digital platforms, with over 5 million unique visitors to their website last year and the generation of more than 37,000 leads for local operators. This indicates a substantial increase in visibility for Fiji as a tourist destination, translating into greater awareness and demand within the industry.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Mr. Hill introduced the “Loloma Hour,” touted as the world’s first happy hour for the environment—an initiative aiming to give back to local communities through tourism initiatives. This campaign reflects a broader strategy to ensure that tourism growth positively impacts both the environment and local populations.

In summary, Tourism Fiji is poised for an exciting year ahead, with strategic plans aimed at both expanding its market reach and fostering sustainable tourism practices. With record-breaking growth objectives and innovative initiatives, there’s a positive outlook for Fiji’s tourism sector as it aims to attract a diverse array of visitors from multiple regions.
