Touch Rugby Revival Tournament: Join the Action in Lautoka!

The Fleming Roosters Touch Rugby revival tournament is set to take place at St. Thomas Primary School grounds in Lautoka on September 28, with 10 spots available for men’s teams. Misa Rokovua, a committee member, shared this information during an interview with SUNsports.

The entry fee for each team is $100, but as of now, only two teams have registered, and they have yet to pay the registration fee. Rokovua emphasized that the tournament aims to rejuvenate touch rugby in Lautoka. He expressed a desire to engage the youth in the sport to steer them away from drugs, nightlife, and minor crimes.

Rokovua encouraged everyone to join the tournament, regardless of whether they have a team, and invited them to enjoy a family fun day. Additionally, he mentioned that they are seeking sponsors as most of the tournament funding comes from the organizing committee’s efforts.

He noted that fundraising for the event has its challenges, as does attracting teams to participate. The committee is also working on including a Police team in the tournament to raise awareness about the drug crisis affecting the youth in the country.
