Torrential Rains and Flash Flooding Threaten Eastern Fiji

A trough of low pressure is projected to significantly impact the eastern regions of the country. This information was confirmed by weather forecasters at the Fiji Meteorological Service Office in Nadi.

A heavy rain warning has been issued specifying areas within the Fiji group that will experience adverse weather throughout the week. The Fiji MET has indicated that heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding in low-lying regions, particularly affecting Navua, Suva, and Nausori, along with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.

The forecast for Thursday predicts intermittent rain, which may be heavy at times, accompanied by some thunderstorms. Low-lying areas in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba are at risk for flash flooding due to these heavy downpours, along with cloudy conditions and showers, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Localized heavy rainfall may also lead to flash flooding in low-lying regions. In Labasa, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated to continue until Friday.
