TOPEX 2024: Unleashing Fiji’s Business Potential Through Collaboration

The Top Executive Conference (TOPEX) has become the premier event on the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation’s (FCEF) annual schedule, attracting a large assembly of leading executives in Fiji. Following the success of TOPEX 2023, which welcomed over 400 delegates from 150 organizations, the Federation is preparing for an even more significant event this year.

Scheduled for November 21-23 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadi, TOPEX 2024 promises to deliver a transformative experience for the country’s business leaders. The theme for this year’s conference, “Collaborative Action for Sustainable Growth: Delivering on Our 2030 Commitment,” underscores FCEF’s dedication to fostering collective efforts aimed at tackling sustainable development challenges. The conference will feature eight sessions over two dynamic days.

The first session, titled “The Next Generation Leadership in Managing People, Intergenerational Expectations, and Digital Revolution,” will feature popular speakers from last year. This session will explore the changing workplace landscape, where different generational values and expectations converge. It will address strategies to bridge generational gaps, manage workforce dynamics effectively, and utilize digital innovation to support sustainable growth in an evolving business environment.

Session two, “Steering Economic Challenges and Seizing Opportunities,” will present discussions on key topics including the National Development Plan aimed at improving the business climate in Fiji, tax reform that balances revenue generation with competitiveness, and sustainable business practices for a greener Fiji. It will also cover resilience strategies for navigating market volatility.

The third session, BizPitchComp 2024, returns to engage TOPEX delegates in voting for the best business pitches. This session highlights FCEF’s commitment to supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and their alignment with Fiji’s National Development Plan and sustainable development goals related to job creation and financial access. Six finalists will pitch their business ideas focused on innovation, inclusion, and climate change for funding and advisory support.

Session four, “Leveraging Human Capital: The Labour Market the Private Sector Demands,” will include a panel of experts discussing strategies to address Fiji’s labor shortages, emphasizing the need for skills development and training to enhance workforce capabilities.

The second day will kick off with session five, “Navigating the AI Revolution: Realising Business Growth and Sustainable Impact.” This session will cover talent acquisition, cybersecurity risks and benefits of generative AI, IT infrastructure challenges, and promoting digital inclusion.

In session six, “Improving Fiji’s Productivity to Contain the High Cost of Doing Business,” strategies for increasing efficiency and competitiveness will be explored, including the adoption of technology and innovation to lower operational costs.

Session seven, “Beyond Tokenism: Building a Truly Inclusive and Impactful Business,” will focus on policies to promote inclusivity for persons with disabilities, women’s participation in business, and creating inclusive workplaces beyond superficial efforts.

The final session, “Beyond the Paycheck: Igniting Passion and Purpose in Your Workforce,” aims to inspire businesses to motivate their teams beyond financial incentives, showcasing how to align corporate goals with employees’ personal values.

Positioned as Fiji’s leading forum for executive leadership and collaboration, TOPEX 2024 aims to provide a valuable space for leaders to innovate and reflect. Supported by platinum partner BRED Bank Fiji and featuring participants from top executive circles, the conference promises to inspire meaningful action towards a sustainable future for Fiji. With just 34 days until the event, registration is encouraged as seats are limited.
