The Top Executive Conference (TOPEX) has become the premier event on the Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation’s (FCEF) annual schedule, attracting the largest assembly of executives in Fiji. Following the success of TOPEX 2023, which saw over 400 delegates from 150 organizations, the Federation is preparing for an even more noteworthy event this year.
Scheduled for November 21-23 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa in Nadi, TOPEX 2024 promises to provide a transformative experience for business leaders in Fiji.
The theme for this year, “Collaborative Action for Sustainable Growth: Delivering on Our 2030 Commitment,” highlights the Federation’s dedication to promoting collective initiatives to address challenges in sustainable development. The event will include eight sessions over two dynamic days.
The first session, titled “The Next Generation Leadership in Managing People, Intergenerational Expectations, and Digital Revolution,” will present insights from a favored speaker from last year. This session will explore the modern workplace characterized by diverse generations with differing values and expectations. As technology continues to evolve, leaders must adopt digital tools while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture. Discussion topics will include strategies to bridge generational divides and leverage digital innovation to promote sustainable growth.
Session two, “Steering Economic Challenges and Seizing Opportunities,” will involve discussions on four essential subtopics. It will start with insights on the National Development Plan, emphasizing improvements in the ease of doing business in Fiji. This will be followed by an examination of tax reform and its balance between revenue generation and business competitiveness, as well as discussions on sustainable business practices aimed at creating a greener Fiji. Additionally, strategies for resilience in a fluctuating market will be covered to help businesses adapt to uncertainties.
Session three, BizPitchComp 2024, returns after last year’s popularity, allowing TOPEX delegates to vote on the best business pitches. This session aims to spotlight FCEF’s support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and their contributions to Fiji’s National Development Plan and sustainability goals. Six finalists will present their business plans focused on innovation, inclusion, and climate change, with a total funding prize of F$12,000 and post-funding advisory support for each.
The fourth session, “Leveraging Human Capital: The Labour Market the Private Sector Demands,” will feature a panel of experts discussing strategies to address Fiji’s labor shortages and skills gaps. The panel will focus on improving targeted skills development and training, potentially reforming the NTPC levy, and ensuring that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) aligns with industry needs.
On day two of TOPEX, session five will explore “Navigating the AI Revolution: Realising Business Growth and Sustainable Impact.” Four speakers will cover talent acquisition strategies, cybersecurity issues regarding generative AI, the establishment of IT infrastructure in Fiji, and the importance of promoting digital inclusion.
Session six, “Improving Fiji’s Productivity to Contain the High Cost of Doing Business,” will discuss ways to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve workforce productivity through technology and innovation.
In session seven, titled “Beyond Tokenism: Building a Truly Inclusive and Impactful Business,” speakers will address policies for fostering inclusivity, women’s participation in business, and best practices for creating a truly diverse workplace.
The final session, “Beyond the Paycheck: Igniting Passion and Purpose in Your Workforce,” will focus on inspiring employees beyond financial incentives. An international speaker will share insights on cultivating a workplace culture where employees align their personal values with business goals.
As Fiji’s leading platform for executive leadership and collaboration, TOPEX 2024 is poised to foster valuable discussions among leaders seeking to drive sustainable development. Supported by platinum partner BRED Bank Fiji, the event promises to inspire actionable initiatives for a more prosperous future for Fiji. With only 34 days until the event, attendees are encouraged to register promptly to secure their participation.
