The Public Service Commission (PSC) has recently announced a significant reshuffle involving the positions of three Permanent Secretaries, effective February 3, 2025. This decision, made in conjunction with the Prime Minister, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance leadership capabilities within key ministries.

Chairman of the PSC, Luke Rokovada, highlighted that Dr. Raijeli Taga, currently serving as the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, will move to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In her stead, Dr. Lesikimacuata Korovavala, currently the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will transition to the Office of the Prime Minister and also take on the additional role of Acting Permanent Secretary for Immigration.

Furthermore, Mr. Manasa Lesuma, who is the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Housing, has begun serving as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Policing since January 14, 2025. This strategic leadership reshuffle reflects the government’s commitment to optimizing administrative effectiveness and ensuring that skilled leaders are in positions to guide the nation’s ministries.

The changes are seen as a response to current challenges, ensuring accountability and responsiveness within public service. They are expected to promote a more efficient and effective governance structure in Fiji, capitalizing on local talent and improving overall service delivery to citizens. This forward-looking approach may pave the way for a brighter future in governance and administrative functions within the country.

In summary, the reshuffle of these Permanent Secretaries not only aims to refine governmental leadership but also signifies a dedication to promoting local expertise in public service management, which could foster progress and innovation in Fiji’s administrative landscape.
