The King and Queen of Tonga, King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u, are set to visit Fiji to attend the chiefly installation ceremony of the Tui Nayau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba on July 10, 2025, in Tubou Village, Lakeba, Lau. This royal visit symbolizes the deep historical and cultural ties between Lau and Tonga, as acknowledged in a statement from the Government.
The Head of Mataqali Vuanirewa from Tubou Village, Ratu Tevita, extended the invitation to the Tongan royalty to attend this significant event linked to the installation of the Sau Ni Vanua Ko Lau and Tui Lau.
Coordination for the royal visit is being managed by an inter-agency task force, and the arrangements for the visit, scheduled from July 8 to July 12, 2025, have been officially endorsed by the Cabinet.
