Fiji National University Campuses Shutting Down
Today marks the closure of all campuses of the Fiji National University (FNU) across Fiji.
Rationale Behind Closure
The Fiji National University made the decision to suspend all campus operations as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 following a case in Lautoka.
Shift to Virtual Learning
However, it isn’t all bad news for the students. This closure won’t mean a halt in their academics as the University will promote online learning. The University has taken great strides to ensure that the teaching and learning process remains uninterrupted despite physical closures.
The Role of the Ministry of Health
The Health and Wellness Ministry in Fiji, emphasizing on the importance of public health, is working closely with FNU to conduct contact tracing. This collaborative effort stems from the quest to contain and manage the spread of the virus.
Future Aspirations
The heads of FNU look forward to reopening the campuses once the situation is deemed safe. They encourage all students and staff to adhere to safety guidelines, maintain personal hygiene, and monitor their health in the meanwhile.
