Negotiations are set to commence for a championship bout between Mikaele Ravalaca and Jnr Binnu Singh, pending Singh’s return from Australia. Adi Narayan, the chairman of the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF), has confirmed that Ravalaca will receive his opportunity to challenge for the national title.
Ravalaca has been vocally challenging Singh, especially following Singh’s recent victory where he secured the WBF Australasian Featherweight title in September after defeating Krishneel Mudaliar by split decision during the Bluewater Boxing promotion event in Sigatoka.
Narayan emphasized the importance of making this fight happen and warned that failure to do so may lead to significant consequences for Singh. He has instructed Bluewater Promotions to engage with both fighters to finalize plans for the championship match, which is tentatively scheduled for May.
Narayan expressed his concerns regarding Singh’s hesitation to face Ravalaca, stating that if Singh refuses to proceed with the fight, he may lose his title. He conveyed his authority to intervene if necessary, urging Singh to embrace the champions’ mentality and engage in the match.
Moreover, following Ravalaca’s recent victory in Australia, Narayan took to social media to reaffirm Ravalaca’s long-desired championship fight, uplifting spirits among his supporters.
This anticipated match not only showcases talent and determination but also promises to excite boxing fans. The BCF’s commitment to ensuring that top competitors face each other reflects a healthy competitive spirit in the sport. The upcoming negotiations could foster a renewed sense of enthusiasm within the boxing community in Fiji, paving the way for thrilling matches ahead.
