Negotiations for a championship fight between Mikaele Ravalaca and Jnr Binnu Singh are set to commence once Singh returns from his trip to Australia. Adi Narayan, the chairman of the Boxing Commission of Fiji, has confirmed to Ravalaca’s team that he will receive an opportunity to compete for a national title.
Ravalaca has been vocal in expressing his desire to face Singh, especially given that Singh currently holds the WBF Australasian Featherweight title, a title he secured in September by defeating Krishneel Mudaliar in a closely contested split decision during the Bluewater Boxing promotion event held in Sigatoka.
Narayan emphasized the urgency of making this fight happen and warned that if Singh continues to hesitate, he risks losing his title. “I’ve got Bluewater promotions to talk to both Mika and Binnu for the championship fight likely to take place in May. Binnu is currently in Australia for his sister’s wedding, and once he returns, we will initiate the negotiations,” he stated.
Narayan expressed concern over Singh’s reluctance to fight Ravalaca. He urged the promoters to communicate with Singh’s camp and warned that should they decline, he has the authority to intervene. “Why doesn’t he want to fight, especially being the champion? If he refuses, I will strip him of the title!” Narayan added.
In response to Ravalaca’s recent victory in Australia, Narayan took to social media to affirm that the aspiring boxer will finally get the title shot he has been longing for.
This potential match-up is generating excitement within the boxing community, as fans look forward to seeing both fighters in the ring. The anticipation builds for what could be a significant clash in the history of Fijian boxing.
In summary, Ravalaca is on the verge of securing a championship fight against Singh, pending negotiations upon Singh’s return. The Boxing Commission’s commitment to ensuring this match materializes offers hope for a thrilling contest that fans have eagerly awaited.
