The HLB Mann Judd Suva futsal team showcased resilience and determination despite facing an early setback in their tournament. After suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to 4R Electrical, Gabby’s Investment, and Rooster Chicken Ba Futsal during the pool rounds, the team regrouped and demonstrated their strength in the knockout stages, ultimately securing their title.
In the semi-final, Suva triumphed over Nadi with a score of 4-2, propelling them into the finals, where they decisively defeated Lautoka 6-2. Head coach Vivek Nadan expressed his pride in the team’s ability to bounce back after their pool match loss, stating that it was preferable to face defeat in the initial rounds rather than in the critical elimination phase.
Nadan emphasized the team’s strong mindset going into the finals, saying, “Once we came to the finals we knew it was ours.” The team is now looking to the future, with plans to take a break in December before returning to focus on the upcoming season starting in January.
In women’s competition, Rewa claimed victory by finishing at the top of the standings. Both champions, from the men’s and women’s divisions, were awarded $1,000 shopping vouchers from Extra Supermarket, while the runners-up received $500 vouchers.
