Veteran utility back Luisa Basei Tisolo from the Fijian Drua is setting her sights on improving her goal-kicking skills as the Super W competition approaches. The 33-year-old, who has over a decade of rugby experience, is in her third season with the Drua and has a rich rugby background, having previously represented the Fijiana sevens team and played club rugby in France and Japan.
Originally from Naqarani in Noco, Rewa, Tisolo has maternal roots in Kuku, Bau, Tailevu. With the upcoming Women’s Rugby World Cup slated for August 22 in England, Tisolo has expressed her ambition to elevate her performance, particularly focusing on her on-field communication and goal-kicking, especially since she plays as a fly-half.
“I want to improve my communication on the field and my goal-kicking, as I have handled that responsibility for the team over the last two years,” Tisolo shared in a recent interview. Her ultimate goal is to contribute significantly to the Drua’s efforts to reclaim the Super W title this year.
In her message to aspiring players, she emphasized the importance of showcasing their talents instead of holding back. The Drua is set to host the Reds on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day, followed by another match against the Brumbies on March 15.
This revelation not only highlights Tisolo’s dedication to personal improvement but also her commitment to fostering a culture of talent and determination among her teammates. As the season unfolds, Tisolo’s focus on development may serve as an inspiration for both current and future players in the league.
