TISI Sangam Upholds Financial Transparency Amid Fiji’s Public-Project Audits

TISI Sangam has reaffirmed its commitment to financial transparency and accountability, with Chief Executive Officer Jai Narayan highlighting the organization’s stringent auditing practices during a briefing on its funding structures. Speaking on the initiative’s financial oversight, including the College of Nursing project, Narayan emphasized, “We are funding all our projects. The College of Nursing project has a budget of $0.9 million, partially funded by the Government, while the remainder will be financed by TISI Sangam.”

Narayan elaborated on the annual auditing process, stating that the organization faces no issues with its financial records, which are presented at the annual general meeting (AGM). He underscored the importance of compliance in managing significant building projects, indicating that experience is essential to navigating the required procedural landscape. “You must be compliant to avoid any incidents. If public money is misused resulting in dilapidated buildings within a few years, then what’s the purpose?” he expressed, reinforcing the necessity for strict adherence to regulations.

This commitment to transparency aligns with broader financial governance discussions in Fiji, as seen in recent developments concerning the Ministry of Education’s approach to school funding accountability. Instances of financial misconduct in educational institutions are currently under investigation by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC), indicating a national trend towards improved financial governance in public projects.

The proactive measures taken by TISI Sangam and the ongoing regulatory scrutiny by government bodies signal a hopeful evolution toward greater financial accountability across various sectors in Fiji. As organizations embrace transparency, public trust is likely to enhance, paving the way for sustained investment in vital community projects.
