Timoci Duve has been officially appointed as the head coach of the Kaiviti Silktails for the New South Wales Rugby League’s 2025 Jersey Flegg Cup season. Duve has been serving in a caretaker position since June, following the departure of former coach and Fiji Bati player Wes Naiqama, who stepped down after a four-year tenure.
Adding to the coaching staff, Rusiate Ratukana, who previously held a role as the strength and conditioning coach and captained the Fiji Residents rugby Sevens team at the South Pacific Games, will return as the assistant coach for the Silktails. They will receive additional guidance from technical advisor Joe Saukuru, who will bridge the coaching efforts between the Silktails and their new feeder club, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
This fresh coaching lineup brings hope for a revitalized performance in the upcoming season, showcasing a blend of experience and local talent aimed at strengthening the Silktails’ competitive edge in the Jersey Flegg Cup. The collaboration with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs also signifies a strategic move towards enhanced training and development opportunities for the players.
In summary, with a new head coach and supportive coaching team, the Kaiviti Silktails are set to embark on an exciting journey in the 2025 season, promising growth and dynamism for the team.
