Timoci Duve has officially been appointed as the Head Coach of the Kaiviti Silktails for the upcoming 2025 Jersey Flegg Cup season in the New South Wales Rugby League. Duve, who had been serving in a caretaker capacity since June, takes over the role following the departure of former coach and Fiji Bati legend Wes Naiqama, who stepped down after four successful years at the helm.

Joining Duve in the coaching staff is Rusiate Ratukana, who returns as the assistant coach. Ratukana brings valuable experience from his background as a strength and conditioning coach and captain of the Fiji Residents rugby Sevens team at the South Pacific Games. Adding to the expertise of the coaching team is technical advisor Joe Saukuru, who will serve as the coaching liaison between the Silktails and their new feeder club, the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

This transition in leadership signifies a new chapter for the Kaiviti Silktails, and with experienced coaches at the helm, there is a sense of optimism about the team’s future in the competition. The combination of Duve’s prior experience with the Schoolboys and Ratukana’s athletic background may contribute to the growth and development of local talent within the club.

Overall, this coaching change holds the potential for a revitalized approach to the game, bringing new strategies and perspectives that could lead to a successful season ahead.
