Bola Tafou, the long-distance coach for Athletics Fiji, has called on athletes to dedicate themselves to rigorous training in preparation for the Pacific Mini Games set to take place next year. Recognized for his coaching successes, including elite talent like Pacific Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro, Tafou stressed the urgency of starting serious preparations as the event approaches.

He explained that developing an athlete to perform at the highest standards requires significant time—more than a year—and emphasized the need for immediate action if athletes hope to exceed their performances from the 2023 Pacific Games held in the Solomon Islands. Tafou is currently engaged with young athletes through an Athletics Camp that will continue until January, which serves as a vital platform for skill enhancement.

Coaches are on standby, ready to assist any athlete seeking guidance during this critical preparation period. The Pacific Mini Games will occur in Koror, Palau, from June 29 to July 9, 2025, marking a significant opportunity for Fijian athletes to showcase their talents.

This is an encouraging call for Fijian athletes to embrace the challenge of preparing for international competition, with the support of dedicated coaches and well-structured training programs. The upcoming games present a chance for the athletes to not only improve their personal bests but also to uplift the spirit of sports in Fiji.

In summary, Bola Tafou’s commitment to guiding athletes plays a crucial role in their development, and with collective effort, there is potential for impressive performances at the upcoming Pacific Mini Games.
