Tilak High School from Lautoka secured victory in the 2024 Digicel Fiji Secondary Schools Inter District Championship by defeating Labasa Sangam College 1-0 in a thrilling final held in Nadi yesterday. Harsh Naidu scored the decisive goal for Tilak from a penalty kick.
Naidu also earned the Golden Boot award, having scored a total of eight goals during the tournament. In addition, Tilak’s goalkeeper, Frank Dansey, received the Golden Glove accolade for his outstanding performance, including three clean sheets.
In the semifinals, Tilak displayed a dominant performance, overwhelming Vashist Muni College of Navua with a 4-0 victory, where Lautoka striker Sekove Luma contributed significantly by scoring two goals and assisting on others. Labasa Sangam College reached the final by triumphing over the reigning champions Labasa College in a penalty shootout, winning 5-4.
In other tournament results, Labasa College claimed the U15 championship after a penalty shootout win over Tavua College, while Xavier College took home the U17 title by defeating SKKMC 4-1. Additionally, Ba Sanatan secured the Girls Open Grade title with a narrow 1-0 victory against Xavier College.
