Tilak High School Triumphs at National Math Competition!

Tilak High School has been declared the champions of the 2024 National Team Mathematics Competition (TMC). The event took place at LDS College in Suva, where students from various schools across the nation gathered to demonstrate their mathematical abilities.

The winning team was led by Shaeez Khan, with guidance from mathematics teacher Ana Vatubula. The assistant principal expressed pride in the outcome, attributing the victory to the hard work and dedication of both teachers and students.

The Year 11 and Year 13 teams achieved first place, while the Year 12 team secured second place. Earlier this year, in Week 10 of Term 2, Team Tilak was the zonal runner-up in a competition held at SVC, which contributed to their success at the national level.

Mr. Narayan highlighted the need for a shift in mindset regarding mathematics in schools, emphasizing that math can be an excellent motivator. He noted that it starts from zero and continues indefinitely.

The success of Tilak High School in this year’s competition reflects the relentless efforts of the Mathematics and Physics department teachers who meticulously trained the students. Their achievements not only brought pride to the school but also encouraged younger students to excel in mathematics.

The team proudly displayed their trophies, which symbolize their hard work and exemplify Tilak High School’s ongoing dominance in academic competitions. With such noteworthy accomplishments, the school continues to maintain its status as one of Fiji’s premier institutions for academic excellence.
