Tilak High School Triumphs at National Math Championships!

Tilak High School has claimed the title of 2024 National Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) Champions.

The competition took place at LDS College in Suva and featured students from various schools nationwide who came to showcase their mathematical talents. The victorious team was led by Shaeez Khan, with guidance from math teacher Ana Vatubula.

“This victory is a result of the hard work and dedication of our teachers and students,” said the assistant principal. Their efforts culminated in a strong performance, with the Year 11 and Year 13 teams finishing in first place, while the Year 12 team secured second place.

Earlier this year, in Week 10 of Term 2, Team Tilak was the zonal runner-up in a competition held at SVC, which laid the foundation for their national success.

Mr. Narayan highlighted the need for a shift in attitudes towards mathematics in schools, stating, “Mathematics is a great motivator—it starts from zero and never ends.”

Tilak High School’s triumph in this year’s competition underscores the dedication of the Mathematics and Physics department teachers, who tirelessly prepared the students. Their commitment has instilled pride in the school and encouraged younger students to excel in mathematics.

The team celebrated their victory proudly, holding their trophies, symbols of their hard work and Tilak High School’s ongoing excellence in academic competitions. With these impressive achievements, the school continues to elevate its standards and maintain its position as one of Fiji’s top institutions for academic excellence.
