Tilak High School Triumphs at National Math Championships!

Tilak High School has claimed the title of the 2024 National Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) Champions.

The event took place at LDS College in Suva, gathering students from various schools nationwide to demonstrate their mathematical abilities. The winning team, under the leadership of Shaeez Khan and guided by mathematics teacher Ana Vatubula, showcased exceptional skills.

The assistant principal praised the achievement, stating, “This victory is the result of the hard work and dedication of our teachers and students.” The Year 11 and Year 13 teams secured first place, while the Year 12 team achieved a commendable second place.

Earlier this year, during Week 10 of Term 2, Tilak High School’s team finished as the zonal runner-up in a competition at SVC, which set the stage for their national triumph.

Mr. Narayan emphasized the need for a change in mindset towards mathematics in schools, stating, “Maths is a great motivator—it starts from zero and never ends.”

The success of Tilak High School in this competition highlights the unwavering dedication of the Mathematics and Physics department teachers, who invested significant time in training the students. Their hard work not only brought pride to the institution but also encouraged younger students to strive for excellence in mathematics.

With their trophies in hand, the team celebrated their achievements, reflecting Tilak High School’s ongoing success in academic competitions. These accomplishments further solidify the school’s status as one of Fiji’s leading institutions for academic excellence.
