Tilak High School has emerged as the 2024 National Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) Champions. The event took place at LDS College in Suva, where students from various schools across the nation gathered to demonstrate their mathematical abilities.
The winning team, led by Shaeez Khan and supported by math teacher Ana Vatubula, showcased impressive skills. The assistant principal expressed pride in the achievement, attributing the victory to the hard work and dedication of both teachers and students. The Year 11 and Year 13 teams clinched first place, while the Year 12 team secured second place.
Earlier this year, in Week 10 of Term 2, Team Tilak was recognized as the zonal runner-up in a competition at SVC. This performance served as a stepping stone to their ultimate success at the national level.
Mr. Narayan emphasized the need for a mindset shift regarding mathematics in schools, noting its limitless nature as a motivating subject. The accomplishments of Tilak High School in this year’s competition reflect the relentless support and training provided by the Mathematics and Physics department teachers.
