Content creator Lui Vuibureta, known as Xcon, appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today faced with allegations of breaching bail conditions. The court was informed that Vuibureta violated three specific conditions of his bail: failing to surrender his passport, neglecting to delete his social media accounts, and continuing his engagement on social media, particularly through his TikTok platform.

Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola inquired about Vuibureta’s eligibility for bail, to which state counsel Tevita Naimila strongly opposed, citing the public interest of the case. Naimila described Vuibureta as a potential threat to the community, noting that he is involved in an ongoing serious bodily harm case at the Valelevu Police station.

When given the opportunity to respond to the objection from the state, Vuibureta chose to remain silent and has since engaged a private counsel for his legal representation. The prosecutor also requested additional time to provide disclosures related to a video interview of Vuibureta, which the court granted, setting a 14-day interval for submissions.

As the proceedings concluded, the case was adjourned to February 16, with Vuibureta being remanded in custody until that date. The unfolding nature of this case has attracted public attention, underscoring the challenges surrounding social media influence and legal accountability.
