TAILEVU Naitasiri, Nasinu, and Lami FC have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2024 FMF Inter-District Championship Premier Division, scheduled for Saturday.
In a Group A match earlier in the day, Lami FC and Nasinu FC ended in a one-all draw. The results left Nasinu, Bua, and Lami all tied on two points each with identical goal differences. However, based on Fair Play points, Nasinu FC emerged at the top of Group A, with Lami FC as the runner-up.
As it stands, Tailevu Naitasiri will face Lami FC in the first semi-final, while the winner of the match between Savusavu FC and Tavua FC, which is set to take place later today, will confront Nasinu in the second semi-final at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Meanwhile, Nadi FC kept their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive with a convincing 4-1 victory over Nadroga in their Group B encounter. The team, under the guidance of coach Raj Dayal, led Nadroga two-nil at halftime thanks to goals from Siotame Kubu and Ratu Tulivou.
Nadroga’s Semesa Sacere managed to score a goal, but further strikes from Ereniko Matau and Siotame Kubu ensured a comprehensive win for Nadi. The Nadi coach expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and is now awaiting the outcome of the Rewa versus Ba match. Nadroga’s interim coach Sunil Kumar commented that the scoreline did not reflect the match, as his team squandered numerous opportunities.
