“Thrilling Boxing Showdown Coming to Labasa – August 10 Event Revealed!”

The South Pacific Boxing Promotions will be transporting the ring to Labasa for the event scheduled on August 10 at Subrail Park.

Promoter Fred Chand confirmed to SUNsports yesterday that preparations for the event are on track.

“There is no ring in Labasa, and this is the first event there in nine years,” Chand said.

“So far we’re 99 percent on track with the program. The Vanuatu boxers will arrive next Wednesday and catch their connecting flight to Labasa.”

The main bout features Fiji super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific champion Winston Hill facing Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser of Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Ser, who trained in China, won the gold medal for Vanuatu at the Pacific Mini Games and has a knockout victory over top Fiji welterweight contender Rakuro Dauvavana.

Former Fiji middleweight champion Nat Ledua mentioned in an earlier interview that people in Vanua Levu are excited to watch Hill.

Another exciting match is the Fiji lightweight title fight between the stylish Ubayd Haider (formerly Nathan Singh) and the hard-hitting Saimoni Ratu of Naitasiri. Haider, also the country’s super featherweight champion, has two wins in Australia.

“The tickets go on sale next week,” Chand said as they finalize a few loose ends.
