“Thrilling Boxing Event Heads to Labasa with Exciting Lineup!”

The South Pacific Boxing Promotions will be transporting the boxing ring to Labasa for the event scheduled on August 10 at Subrail Park.

Promoter Fred Chand confirmed this to SUNsports yesterday, stating that preparations for the event are nearly complete.

“There is no ring in Labasa, and this is the first event there in nine years,” he said. “We’re 99 percent on track with the programme. The Vanuatu boxers are arriving next Wednesday and will catch a connecting flight to Labasa.”

The main event will feature Fiji’s super welterweight and IBO Asia Pacific champion Winston Hill going up against Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser from Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Ser, who trained in China, won the gold medal for Vanuatu at the Pacific Mini Games and has a knockout victory over top Fiji welterweight contender Rakuro Dauvavana.

Former Fiji middleweight champion Nat Ledua mentioned that the people in Vanua Levu are excited to see Hill in action.

Another exciting match will be the Fiji lightweight title fight between the stylish Ubayd Haider (formerly known as Nathan Singh) and the hard-hitting Saimoni Ratu of Naitasiri. Haider, who is also the country’s super featherweight champion, has two wins in Australia.

“Tickets will go on sale next week,” said Chand, as they are finalizing a few remaining details.
