Three men suspected of participating in the sale and distribution of illegal drugs were apprehended in separate operations yesterday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that the first incident occurred in Raralevu, where the Nausori Crime team seized over 50 zip lock bags containing white crystals, believed to be methamphetamine, along with 15 sachets of dried leaves presumed to be marijuana. Two men, aged 53 and 29, have been taken into custody in connection with this raid.
In a separate incident in Solovi, Nadi, a 46-year-old man was arrested after being discovered with more than 170 sachets of dried leaves thought to be marijuana. He is currently in custody as investigations proceed.
ACP Driu emphasized that the police will intensify efforts to target those involved in drug distribution and sale, particularly in light of past trends where major social and sporting events are often exploited by drug dealers.
