In a noteworthy development during the ongoing methamphetamine trial at the Lautoka High Court, Justin Ho’s counsel, Samuela Heritage, claimed that his client faced intimidation from co-accused Jale Aukerea during a break in proceedings. According to Heritage, Aukerea allegedly threatened Ho with comments implying that he should “shut the f**k up,” which left Ho feeling scared. Heritage stated that a police officer present at the cell-block could confirm these threats.

Aukerea, however, vehemently denied these accusations and declared that he did not threaten Ho. In light of these allegations, Ho intends to file a complaint at the police station regarding these threats, although Justice Aruna Aluthge suggested that a written statement would suffice.

The trial, which revolves around Ho’s involvement in a substantial drug trafficking operation, is poised to hear more testimonies, including those of Ratu Osea Levula and Viliame Colowaliku, tomorrow.

This trial not only highlights the intense dynamics among the accused but also reflects broader issues of drug trafficking and safety in Fiji. The judiciary’s commitment to fair proceedings aims to uphold public trust in the legal system, reinforcing the desire for justice amidst serious allegations. Each testimony contributes to a fuller understanding of the complexities involved and fosters hope that a decisive stance against drug-related crime can lead to a safer community.

Overall, the judiciary’s efforts and the willingness of witnesses to come forward serve as promising signs in the fight against drug trafficking in Fiji, underlining the critical role of transparency and accountability in the legal process.
