Theo McFarland Appointed as Manu Samoa Captain for July Tests Against Italy and Spain

Theo McFarland has been named captain of Manu Samoa for the upcoming July tests against Italy and Spain. Hailed by management for his deservingness of the leadership role, the 28-year-old player has had a triumphant sports career from Pesega College to Moamoa Roosters, and now Saracens in England.

Commenting on his appointment, McFarland said, “I want to express my gratitude to our head coach and the management for identifying my ability to undertake such a significant responsibility as the Manu Samoa captain.” He added that after discussions with former captains and a lot of thought, he feels prepared and enthusiastic to embrace the role.

McFarland also shows positivity towards the team, sharing that the atmosphere in the camp is upbeat with the team’s readiness to learn and work collaboratively ahead of the game against Italy.

Mase Mahonri Schwalger, the Head Coach of Manu Samoa, revealed his criteria for selecting the team’s captain, emphasizing the significance of someone who commands respect from both players and the public. According to him, the person chosen should be a leader who the nation can trust. In light of this, Mase believes McFarland’s strong character and distinct leadership style make him an ideal captain, possibly leading the team till the World Cup in 2027.
