Taiwan remains an inseparable part of China, and the one-China principle is a red line that should never be crossed, asserted Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Zhou Jian.

Speaking during the 97th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army in Suva last Friday, Ambassador Jian addressed senior members of the Fiji Government, including Acting Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica and Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua, affirming that “Taiwan is China’s Taiwan.”

Jian emphasized that the Taiwan issue is a domestic affair for China, declaring that no foreign power has the right to interfere. He voiced strong opposition to any actions aimed at enhancing substantive relations with Taiwan and reiterated that the one-China principle should not be violated.

The ambassador pointed out that the greatest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait stems from the separatist activities of “Taiwan independence” elements, bolstered by certain external forces. He stressed that while China remains committed to peaceful reunification, it firmly opposes any moves towards “Taiwan independence” and any foreign interference.

Jian concluded by warning that no one should underestimate the determination, will, and capability of the Chinese people to defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
