A new health center is being planned for Namosi province to address the healthcare service gap in the region. According to Provincial Administrator Laisenia Tui, discussions are in progress for the center that will include a birthing unit and a mortuary.
Tui noted that a 50-acre space at the government station in Dada has been set aside for the healthcare facility. This center will provide relief for locals from the four neighboring districts who currently have to travel for healthcare services, often needing expensive boat rides to reach the Namuamua Health Centre or further to the Navua Hospital.
Tui asserted the government’s commitment to bridging the service gaps in healthcare accessibility. In relation to the currently unoccupied Naqarawai Health Station, which was devastated by a fire two years ago, Tui stated that efforts to rebuild the facility were ongoing.
