The Grand Pacific Hotel (GPH) in Suva recently welcomed celebrated Texas chef Greg Pawlowski to commemorate Fiji Airways’ new route connecting Dallas to Fiji. The event highlighted Pawlowski’s innovative cooking techniques and his passion for Texan cuisine, blending it with fresh local Fijian ingredients.
Guests enjoyed a selection of Texan favorites such as slow-smoked BBQ brisket and Tex-Mex street tacos, alongside cherished desserts including Mississippi Mud Pie. Lachlan Walker, portfolio general manager of IHG Hotels & Resorts, noted that the aim was to share the excitement of the new route through a culinary celebration in both Natadola and Suva hotels. He emphasized the delight of enjoying dishes like an exceptional peach cobbler, crafted with local spirits, as the event highlighted the upcoming Dallas flights set to launch on December 13.
Walker also mentioned that more culinary events featuring guest chefs specializing in various cuisines, including Indian and African dishes, are scheduled in the coming months. Robert Clark, the newly appointed general manager of GPH, shared his enthusiasm for the collaborative experience the event provided, allowing the local team to learn and explore different cooking styles.
Chef Pawlowski expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and excitement around showcasing local dishes from Dallas in celebration of the new flight. This initiative reflects IHG’s commitment to offering unique culinary experiences at their resorts, culminating in a broader celebration at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa.
This event not only marks a significant connection between Texas and Fiji through the new flights but also demonstrates the power of food to bring cultures together, promising more enchanting culinary experiences ahead.
