Authorities are currently looking into an incident involving two 16-year-olds found in possession of marijuana, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu. The teenagers were discovered with the illegal substance on their school premises, one in Sigatoka and the other in Kinoya.
The incident in Sigatoka was reported by a Year 10 teacher who identified the student with the drugs. The young individuals have been taken into custody, and investigations are ongoing.
ACP Driu emphasized the crucial role parents play in preventing drug use among children. He urged parents to check their children’s bags before school and to be aware of their children’s social circles and visitors to their homes, highlighting the responsibilities that come with parenting.
